Although Anderson Cooper, television host and journalist, is a celebrity in his own right, he comes from one of America's most outstanding families - the Vanderbilts.
He was the railroad and shipping tycoon Cornelius Vanderbilt, and since Gloria Vanderbilt, his mother, is the heiress to the family’s fortune.
Cooper developed interest in the media from a young age, appearing in To Tell The Truth and The Tonight Show before he turned 10. As a boy he started working as a model and worked with big brands, including Calvin Klein and Ralph Lauren. His concentration shifted in 1988 after Carter, his older brother, committed suicide.
